Authorship in academic publications: key principles and responsibilities

The author of a scientific article is a researcher who has made a significant intellectual contribution to the creation of the work. This includes:
• Theoretical development, systematic or experimental design: Formulating the research concept and planning its implementation.
• Prototype development, data analysis and interpretation: the practical implementation of the idea and understanding of the results obtained.
• Creation and analysis of the article’s content: direct involvement in writing and editing the text.
• Approval of the final version: confirming that the article is ready for publication, including checking the list of references.
Rules for joint authorship
If several authors have worked on the article, they determine the order of their names in the article themselves. It is generally recommended to list names in accordance with each author’s contribution to the research.
Important: Only those who have directly participated in the research and writing of the article and are prepared to take full responsibility for its content may be included in the list of authors. Funding of the research or payment for publication does not constitute grounds for inclusion in the list of co-authors.
Limit on the number of authors
The editorial board recommends limiting the number of co-authors to three per paper. If there are four or more authors, a detailed justification of each participant’s personal contribution must be provided.
Agreement on the regulation of relations between co-authors
All co-authors are required to sign an Agreement on the regulation of relations. This document defines the mutual rights and obligations of each author regarding the submitted scientific work, ensuring a clear understanding of the distribution of responsibility and rights to the research results.
Consent to the processing of personal data
At the second stage, following the editorial board’s decision to publish the material in the journal, authors provide their formal consent to the processing of the following personal data:
- Full name
- Academic degree, academic title
- Information about the organisation with which the author is affiliated (position, department, institution)
- City
- Country
- Email address
