PRIORITY DIRECTIONS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT IN SOUTH KOREA
Abstract
In the article the author pays attention to the strategy of development of higher education in South Korea
at the present stage of the state functioning. The policy of the Government is analysed in the field of higher
education, particularly under the analysis are the innovations in financing higher education segment. The main
directions of the University activities are outlined in the sphere of higher education under the conditions of global
transformations.

The author also highlights the main challenges that can impede developing the university education
in the Republic of Korea, in particular, the demographic crisis connected with the aging of the South Korean
population. The PRIME Government project focused on modernization of the profile engineering and technical
system of education is as well considered in the article; this in turn, is a key to stable economic development
and social well-being.
The aim of the article is to outline the priority directions of the development of higher education in South Korea
in the context of challenges faced by South Korean society, particularly, to analyse the governmental policy
of the country in the field of higher education, as well as to highlight the key steps directed at modernization
of higher education segment under the conditions of global transformations.
