“CARPET READINGS” IN THE CONTEXT OF STUDYING VASYL SUKHOMLYNSKYI’S LITERARY HERITAGE

Abstract

The article deals with the notion of “human pedagogy”, “carpet readings”. The attempt to investigate
the uniqueness of the methodology of V.O.Sukhomlynskyi based on the material of his literary

and pedagogical works is made. The works of national scientists on the research of Sukhomlynsky’s literary
heritage are analysed. The directions of work with students of the second year (specialization “Ukrainian
Philology”, Institute of Philology, Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University) in the project “Children’s Smile”
is revealed. The review of contemporary fairy tales of the outstanding teacher is offered. Plans for project
development are described.
In the era of information technology, it is very important to maintain and develop children’s interest
in the book. Besides, with the increase of gadgets, modern children cease to read and strive to know more.
Attempts to change this situation are of interest to the students of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University. To study
relevance, the works of the outstanding teacher Vasyl Oleksandrovych Sukhomlynskyi are chosen. The great
teacher supported the idea of human pedagogy, drew attention to the education of children in the love
of beauty. Students analyse the literary heritage of Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi, studied the work of scientists
and tested the influence of the teacher’s tales on modern children. The creative group of students is updating
the tales by Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi adding heroes, more understandable to the new generation of children.
The purpose of the project is to publish an illustrative collection of tales of an outstanding teacher, updated
versions of his works and a page for the creativity of the child-owner of the book. In
