The article explores the role of problem-solving and inquiry-based tasks as a priority tool
for the personal and professional development of future teachers within the modern paradigm of higher
education. Based on a comprehensive analysis of scientific sources and the actualization of the author’s
previous publications, the work considers problem-based learning (PBL) as a holistic system for fostering studentagency, where the educational process is aimed at developing an autonomous, creative, and professionally
responsible individual. It is established that the personal and professional development of a higher education
student in the context of inquiry-based activity involves the interaction of cognitive, investigative, and reflective
dimensions. This interaction enables pre-service teachers to transform theoretical knowledge into practical
experience in solving complex pedagogical situations. The study substantiates that the effective implementation
of inquiry-based tasks, particularly within philological and linguodidactic disciplines, ensures the student’s
transition from reproductive information retrieval to the role of a knowledge producer. Such a student is capable
of critical resource analysis, designing original didactic systems, and making responsible decisions. It is concluded
that the research-oriented training model integrates individual professional growth trajectories, teacher
facilitation, the development of self-regulation skills, and the use of digital technologies as means to enhance
learning efficiency. The findings demonstrate that the use of problem-solving and inquiry-based tasks serves
as a strategic resource for fostering the professional excellence of future teachers, ensuring their competitiveness
and readiness for creative activity amidst dynamic educational changes.
